For the first time, we are throwing open our doors for a vip after-hours event like no other. In the heart of the capital, we’re putting on a unique safari experience inspired by the sights and sounds of India, the last refuge of the magnificent Asian lion.

Transported to the heart of India, our guests will have a unique opportunity to:

Don’t miss your chance to be one of the first to experience this unique safari in the city.

The Lion

There are just 400 asian lions left in the wild. They survive only in the Gir Forest in western India – but this tiny, isolated population is vulnerable to disaster, disease and inbreeding. The lions share the Gir Forest protected area with over 15,000 people, who use the land to graze cattle. Human-wildlife conflict is escalating, with more than 40% of lion deaths now linked to humans. Resolving these clashes between lions and people is the most important challenge for conservation.

Our majestic, playful pride at ZSL London Zoo are vital ambassadors for their cousins in the wild. They inspire and inform the public, preserve genetic diversity in our lion population through careful breeding, and help conservationists and scientists gain vital understanding about the species. ZSL’s Asian lions campaign will support the urgent work needed to ensure the future of Asian lions in India and create a stunning home for ZSL London Zoo’s lions, inspiring commitment from all who visit.

All profits from our inaugural safari in the city event will go towards our
asian lions campaign. Your contribution will allow us to create an inspirational new lion exhibit at the heart of ZSL london zoo, engaging and educating the public about these extraordinary animals. It will also support urgent projects in india to protect
the last remaining wild lions.

miss out

Just 300 guests will have the opportunity to join us for our first safari in the city gala dinner on 21 May 2014. If you’d like to be among them, book now to secure your place.

Why not invite friends and family (over-18s only) to join you, and book a table exclusively? A minimum donation of £2,500 is enough to secure your own table of 10 – and have the unique opportunity to invite an 11th guest to dine with you. Simply pledge an additional donation of £1,000 or more and you’ll be joined at dinner by one of our conservation ambassadors – an unmissable chance to learn all about the front line of wildlife protection from an expert in the field. Some of our conservationists are as rare as the species they save, though, so do book early if you’d like to invite them along.

Individual places are also available at £250. We’ll make sure you and your friends are seated together at communal tables – and, of course, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to mingle with our other fascinating guests and meet our wildlife experts throughout the evening.

Secure your place at this once-in-a-lifetime event today.
